From groomed boulevards to its trademark hidden powder stashes and incredible lake views, Homewood Mountain Resort has it all with more than 1,260 acres of skiing and snowboarding terrain.

Homewood has unbeatable lake views to complete your day of skiing in Lake Tahoe.

Homewood has unbeatable lake views to complete your day of skiing in Lake Tahoe.

Located a few miles from Granlibakken, Homewood is easy to access by vehicle or you can take the shuttle with daily pick-up at the front steps of Granlibakken at 8:30 a.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. When you’re done for the day, the shuttle brings you back.

Granlibakken has partnered with Homewood and offers value-added ski and stay packages for the 2013-14 ski and board season.

With an average seasonal snowfall of around 450 inches and a 300 days of trademark Tahoe sunshine, there’s a reason SKI Magazine ranked Homewood among the Top 10 resorts in California and Nevada last year.

Homewood has a base elevation of 7,230 feet and a summit of 7,880 feet that amounts to a 1,650 vertical foot elevation gain. There are 8 lifts providing access to 64 runs. Among those runs, 15 percent is considered beginner terrain, 50 percent intermediate, 35 percent advanced, plus terrain parks. The longest run is the 2-mile long “Rainbow Ridge.”

Lifts open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily (weather and conditions permitting). With Ellis Peak sheltering the entire Homewood mountain from high-ridge winds, the term “wind hold” is almost unheard of. Check out the interactive trail map here.

New to the slopes or looking for a refresher? Check out Homewood’s ski and snowboarding school, which offers all-ages beginner to advanced classes as well as “learn to ski and ride” packages for adults. Homewood is one of the only resorts of its kind to offer free intermediate and advanced lessons, Sundays through Fridays during non-peak dates throughout the season.

Among Homewood’s well-tuned terrain parks are:

  • Lakeview Park at the bottom of Rainbow Ridge run
  • Kolby’s Escape Park, at the top of Old Homewood Express Chairlift;
  • Happy Park (also known as Shredwood), next to Happy Platter at the North Lodge beginner area featuring a 10 foot up box, a 10 foot down box, a 20 foot flat box jump, a 17 foot jump, a 20 foot A-frame rail, and a 20 foot hip with a rail.
  • Madden Ridge Terrain Park near the top of the Madden Chairlift and Money Booter, just down from the Big Blue View Bar on Cradle run.

Will you visit Homewood during your stay at Granlibakken?
